SOLID WASTE & YARD WASTE INFORMATION
Trash collection is on Tuesdays and Fridays and recycling is on Fridays. Only Cottleville solid/yard waste containers can be used for pickup - no pivately owned containers due to liability issues. Yard waste pickup is once a week on Wednesdays, at $5.00 a month per container or $60 a year. Cottleville residents also have the option of using brown paper lawn bags (available at retail stores) or tying bundles not exceeding 3 feet in lengh and 75 lbs in weight. Additional yard waste can be taken to the Earth Center. AN IMPORTANT NOTE: The collection truck is automated and the driver does not routinely exit the vehicle. Containers must be at the curb by 6:30 am with the lid opening facing the street; ALL trash and tied blue bags must be inside the container. Containers and brown lawn bags need to be placed 5 feet from any obstruction, ie. mailboxes, parked vehicles, basketball hoops for pick up and to prevent damage from the automated collection arm.
FYI - Dirt, rocks, and sod are classified as solid waste. These items interfere with the yard waste machinery. Please put these items in your solid waste container for pick up.
BLUE RECYCLING BAGS
Recyclable items should be separated, with containers in one blue bag and paper products in another blue bag. The blue bags should be placed inside the solid waste container on Fridays. If you should run out of blue bags before the next delivery, blue bags can be picked up at City Hall OR tie a blue bag on your solid waste container handle and the driver will drop you a roll of blue bags.
Items with the number 1, 2, 3, 5, or 7 can be recycled.
